I admit it. I regularly watch (and DVR) SNL.

When I was a little girl. (Actually, I was never really a little girl. I was always a 35-year-old in an eight-year-old's body. Go ahead. Ask my family.)

Anywho...  when I was a little girl, I'd watch the first half hour of Saturday Night Live with my Dad pretty much every Saturday.

Then, at midnight he'd say, "Guess what time it is?" Then I'd roll my eyes and he'd say, "Bedtime for Bonzo!" and off I'd go to bed.

(I still don't know where that came from. "Bonzo?")

Anywho, after he passed I kept watching SNL (and SCTV) faithfully... even through the really terrible years.  Still, to this day - when I hear the opening music I think of him. It's odd and great, if you ask me. Memories of loved ones should ABSOLUTELY involve laughter.

So yeah. That's why I watch SNL.

  1. Just found your blog today, I've really enjoyed reading about you and your family.

My dad always said "Bedtime for Bonzo," too. No idea where it came from, but I still say it.

  2. Billy says 'Bedtime for Bonzo' too. It's a movie, but I've never seen it. I'm guessing his parents watched the movie and then said it to him.

Anyway, I have a lot of great SNL memories. We could have the best chat. I used to set my alarm clock so that I'd wake up to watch. I could never stay up that late.
