Lila Lunes
And, we're truckin'

3/01/2010 12:08:00 AM
These days life seems to consist of several things for Little Miss Cupcake:

Drinking. (and driving)

Crying/breaking down.

Eating again.

Q. How am I, Lila's mom, doing?

A. Well. I like being her Mom. She's fun.

Back when we were trying to get me pregnant I remember parents of young children telling me to enjoy my freedom, enjoy sleeping, blah, blah, blah -- because apparently having a baby would be the end of my life as I knew it.

(These were the same well-meaning (???) friends who are big on bachelor and bachelorette parties pre-wedding so that you can kiss your single hood goodbye by partying it up with strippers and ho's.)

I've been doing this parent-game for 8 months. (I know, I know... not that much experience...) However, my conclusion: being a parent is the coolest thing I've ever done.

I love this sweetie pie. (Peek-a-boo, Lila R.)

For the first time in my life, it's not about me. At all. In any way.shape.or.form.  And I'm ok with that. And what's cool? So is Craig.

She changes every single day. It's like we're growing our own little chia pet - it's very rewarding. She's such a big girl.

Let's be honest, though. This whole game can be tough. I mean, the little lady has a bit of anxiety with non-parents right now. Ugh. Here she is playing with her cousin, Bella. Crying intermittently, of course.

Still, each time she smiles, or successfully tries a new food, it's like I just won an Olympic gold. I mean, I'm so proud of her.

I've also learned patience. I mean, I've been working on writing this post for about 3 hours now. Why? Um. Lila. Dinner. Lila. And, well... Lila.

Ultimately, if your'e thinking about having a baby and your friends/family members have told you to relish your life as it is now, because it'll all go down hill later - they're wrong.

It only gets better.

On to more pictures from the week:

Lila loves her panda bear.

I loved walking into her room and seeing her playing under her table.

Lila, her Dad, and her Ferg.

I forced a pony tail on the top of her head with her seven hairs.

I find photos of Lila with her eyes shut to be cute.

A close-up of the pony-tail.

A sippy cup, a cupcake toy, a teether, sunglasses and an old blackberry?
Um. Ready.

(We tried cantaloupe this week. It went over well.)

Finally, if you would have told me that I would have been still making baby food at this point...
AND, that I made super-good apple sauce on Sunday, I'd have told you that you were straight crazy.

Here's the applesauce.

And it's good.

Have a good week!

  1. I just heard someone say that to a newly pregnant mom this week and thought, "really? Is that necessary?" sure, life changes, but you adjust your way of life and have some new fun. Makes you feel a little bad for those kids if parents are that miserable. Cute pics as always....

  2. Yeah, it makes me sad that people think their quality of live goes down when kids come :(

LOVE Lila drinking and driving :)

  3. very cute pictures!! i love how much she is growing.

  4. I cannot WAIT for my life to change. I know there are going to be some challenging times, but I don't care...I can't imagine that they are going to out-weigh all the amazing-ness, and I'm in it for ALL OF IT.

Lila is changing, she's starting to look different to me! (Still beautiful as ever, though!)

(And I would like my baby - if it's a girl - to have Lila's legging wardrobe. Seriously, too cute.)

  5. Yeah, based on all the nasty comments I got when I was pregnant I thought this whole baby thing was going to SUUUUCK. But like you, I really like it. Parts are hard but it's mostly great. My life? So not over.

  6. I couldn't agree more...being a parent is the best!!! My problem is I wish they didn't grow up so fast..I'd like to freeze time for awhile. :-)

  7. I love her smile, you can totally see her personality in the pictures. She looks like she is getting so long too!!

I agree, the leggings are WAY cute. That Lila has style

  8. Oh, I'm so glad to hear you say that your life isn't over now that you're a parent! Now that we're married, we hear about baby stuff (questions, etc) ALL the time, as you can imagine. I like the positivity!

Cute photos! Looks like she getting ready to do some P90X sliding push-up things in that picture with the book!

  9. Love this post. And love the pictures of Lila eating...cracks me up.
