I love the awards shows.

I enjoyed the 'ole awards show, I did.
  • Yay for Monique.
  • Meryl Streep is lovely.
  • I was shocked that Tina Fey lost to Toni Collette.
  • I was quite happy about Mad Men's win. (Not so much about Jon Hamm's beard, though.)
  • I was floored that Glee beat 30 Rock, Entourage, etc.
  • Am I the only one on the planet who thought The Hangover was a waste of my life? It won a globe? Huh?
  • I give two thumbs up to Ricky Gervais. I find him to be quite comical.
  • When celebrities pronounce other celebrities' names incorrectly, it kills me.
Ok, on to the fashion...

Too much purple, kids. Too much sequins. However, I'm going to put it out there and tell you who I think was the best dressed.

Yep. Sandra Bullock. She looked great. Now this is purple I approve of. Bold. Fun. Feisty. Not soft whiny lavender. Loved this dress.

Who wins best hair? Ginnifer Goodwin. I adore her hair. It's perfect.

Who wins, "Most-Inappropriate-Display-of-Hoots"?

Mariah Carey. Shocker, no? I didn't need to see the entire orb-ness of her boobs.

Who wins, "Best-display-of-hoots"?

Christine Hendricks from Mad Men, duh. She's just...well... she's sexy. And her dress is tres great.

Who wins, "Most-dressed-like-the-Bob-Mackie-barbie?"

Why, that would be Toni Collette. She physically looks stunning, however that dress is just far too pageant-y for my liking.

Who wins the, "Hey!-Whoa!-Slow-down-on-the-botox" award?

I know. I'm sorry. But Courtney Cox's skin specialist clearly has a heavy hand when it comes to the botox. She's appears to be perpetually happy and surprised. (Have you seen Cougartown?! I am incapable of watching her show because this once gorgeous woman looks so artificial these days.)

Who wins the, "Oddest-Couple" award?

Yep. That's Sigourney Weaver and ex-Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.
I don't get it either.

Other Notables:

Jennifer Garner looked really fit. Whoa. Loved her taupe-colored dress (which looked better on t.v. than in that picture.) She's had two children. Unbelievable. (I know, I know... she's a celebrity. This = trainer, nannies, chef, driver, etc.)
I liked January Jones (Mad Men) headband look. I'm a fan of headbands. The dress? Eh. Boring. Depressing. Two thumbs down.
I always like Maggie Gyllenhaal. I feel that sometimes her looks can go terribly wrong... however, this one's lovely. Well done.

I feel that Jaime Pressly usually looks like a hooker, but on Golden Globe night I felt like she looked like a classier-hooker, no?

Nope, I can't say anything negative about her. She looks stunning. Way to go Cameron Diaz.
Yay for cute Amy Adams. Pregnant woman are gorgeous. And, I liked the color of her shoes.

Kate Hudson's dress was fun, albeit very structured, but fun. Not so sure about the decision to wear Rupaul's old shoes...

I refuse to say anything negative about Tina Fey. However, she's not helping me with this dress. Oy.

I love a man who takes into consideration inclement weather and plans for his umbrella to match his pocket square. Fine job, Tracy Morgan/Jordan.

I want to get it, I do. I just don't. What's growing on her shoulder and her hip? Mushrooms? Anywho, this color looks lovely on Drew Barrymore.

I loved seeing Jane Lynch in a dress, as opposed to a track suit on Glee. So pretty! (Love that color.)

This one's too easy, Diane Kruger. Blech.

I love and hate this dress . Olivia Wilde (from House), looks amazing, though.
Not only did Emily Blunt have a fantastic date (Jon Krasinski), but she looked cotton-candy perfect.

Ok, I know there are more dresses to rate, but frankly? I don't have the time to copy and paste each dress worn to the globes on the 'ole blog. You know?

Ok, what did you think?

P.S. Someone needs to tell Giuliana Rancic from E! that being that tan is out. (Yep, I just dictated what should be out. Spray tanning, and God forbid, tanning bed tanning should be duly noted as out of style as of today.)

  1. Is Mariah Carey capable of not showing her hoots? I'm not sure that they allow themselves to be covered.

Susan Sarandon and Fergie made me cock my head, squint my eyes, and say "Huh?"

I could not love Tracy Morgan any more unless Alec Baldwin was standing next to him.

What do I love? That every single dark-tressed, black, or ethnic woman that comes into view Athena says "That's you mommy!"

  2. Best Dressed:
    Cameron Diaz
    Reese Witherspoon
    Halle Berry
    Ginnifer Goodwin
    Jennifer Garner
    Worst Dressed:
    Chloe Sevigny
    Julianne Moore
    Tina Fey
    Mariah Carey

  3. i was going to comment on all these but i think i'll just save time and say... yes. exactly.

  4. YAY! I love these posts

I have to say that I feel that Sandra Bullock is just the best. She always looks amazing, she picks out great outfits (or her fashion team does) and they fit her and her personality perfectly. She is fun, beautiful and gives the best speeches. YAY for her! She was by far my favorite and I was so glad to see her hubby there :)

I think Janye Lynch is so fun and I also loved seeing her in a dress, however I laughed when she was going up with the cast to get an award because even in a dress she still isn't that feminine and I LOVE that! (I think her dress even had pockets...hehehe)

    I love Michael C. Hall.

What was Taylor Lautner doing there?!

I thought Zoe Saldana's dress was gorgeous...I loved the color. And Think she is beautiful.

What was up with Colin Farrell's hair?! It looked like 1993 again! I am hoping it was just because of the rain.

I would also like to say for the record that James Cameron is a total douche. Ok, maybe he isn't in real life, but that is how he comes off to me. I seriously do NOT and have never liked him. I appreciate what he has done, but there is some arrogance about him that I do not like and I felt like his final speech for best movie was a perfect example. "Give yourself a round of applause. We really have the best job, so go ahead and give yourself a round of applause." Really?! That just rubs me the wrong way.

Oh, and Robert Downey Jr is HOT.

  5. I was looking through pictures on yahoo of the best and worst dress and saw Jennifer Aniston. Did you see how high that slit was....hey oh!!! Wow, showing a little leg?! That would not fly for the Oscars

  6. I am pretty sure that even ryan seacrest made several comments on air in reference to rancic's "tan" being so wrong! it was funny!!!
