Get out of town.

Ok, as it turns out there's a new crop of, "planners" out there: baby planners.

Yep, they manage your baby gift registries, advise you as to how to decorate your nursery, and are even on call in the days/weeks before you give birth to help you pack your hospital bag, "install" the car seat, etc.

Yep, read the article here.

Why, oh why, can't we do anything for ourselves?

I don't care how much of a professional woman you are, if you don't have time to plan for and give birth to that child - chances are you aren't going to be the one to raise it either. And, well - I question you. Are you having a baby because you want to be a mommy? Or, is it obligation?

Now don't get me wrong - I could not handle being a full-time, SAHM (Stay-at-home-mom) nor do I think it's for everyone. However, I do have the utmost of respect for those who do it well. Also, 'tis my opinion that nannies, daycares and babysitters are a blessing.

But really? A baby planner?

Planning for the baby is supposed to be fun. It's a bonding experience. It's decorating. It's nesting. It's a personal thing.

Don't count on someone else to make those decisions for you.

Grow up.

*Note: This whole new idea of needing an advisor for every milestone (pregnancy) and non-milestone (pre-school admittance) in one's life is ridiculous.

  1. It's amazing how many people are incapable of making their own decisions.

  2. This is pretty awful. I actually know a girl who owns a baby store in the Chicago area. While she doesn't take care for everything for moms-to-be, I'm amazed at how many people pay her to design their nursery. She even knows the sex of some of her client's children before they do so SHE can register them for gender appropriate stuff. Weird. The funny part about it - she barely takes care of her own kids...she pays someone to do that, so she can "take care" of others.

    Drives me nuts.
