16 and Pregnant

So today I've spent the past couple of hours (or more. You'll never know.) watching MTV's show, "16 and Pregnant."

Um. Whoa.

First off - I cannot even imagine being that young and pregnant. However, most importantly - I can't imagine being that young and dealing with a newborn. Pregnancy's a breeze compared to a newborn.

Wow. They're all so ridiculously immature.

Tomorrow's episode looks uber good. (Preview here.)

  1. K- I'm addicted to this show. I LOVE documentary shows. True Life is another fave. Also really into Intervention and Obsessed on A&E. You watch those? I think I like watching this stuff because it makes me feel like I totally have my act together. Haha!

  2. Great minds think alike! I watched this show last night for a few hours (for the first time) and was amazed! I almost blogged about it, but it came off really judgemental and mean. Whoops. :( Honestly though...they were SO immature, slighty trashy (okay, really trashy) and their parents didn't help by treating them like the 16 year olds that they are. How on Earth are they going to raise these babies?

The entire time I watched though, I kept thinking...when they watch their episode on MTV, are they proud of themselves? or, do they think they look trashy and immature? I'm going to go with they are super duper proud and have no clue!

  3. I've also watched this show pretty regularly.

I must say that I'm glad MTV is not glamorizing any of it. They are showing how difficult life is for these kids. Their friends are alienating them, their boyfriends aren't always as wonderful as they think they are, and their dreams are somewhat crushed (I'm referring to the ROTC girl mostly).

I'm also pleased that MTV hasn't shown any of them saying how happy they are with their new life and that a baby was something they wanted at 16. They are saying that it's really hard and they've had to grow up a lot of make different decisions about their life.

It's a show that I think all teenagers should watch. I just hope that it resonates with them as much as it does with me.

  4. That show is like a train wreck. You don't want to watch it but you can't help but watch it...
