Every fall I like to get our family photos taken, that way I can guarantee that I am in at least ONE photo from that year. (Moms, can you relate?)
So this whole picture-taking thing always makes me smile, because the actual process of rushing around after school and work and getting ready is train wreck wrought with hardly any holiday cheer; just stress and sweating. Someone doesn't like their outfit, that we've agreed upon. Someone doesn't like their hair.
And then when we get there, someone is hungry, someone won't stand still, someone is frustrated, someone cries, someone gets bitten by a mosquito, someone is sick of smiling, someone doesn't like the dirt in her shoe, someone doesn't want to stand close to her sister...
...and all I want is for EVERYONE TO SMILE AND ACT LIKE THEY ARE HAPPY AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
I usually try to act like Mom/Wife of the Year so that everyone stays calm and happy and silently pray that our sweet, patient photographer can get some very non-staged photos that depict our family in the best of lights. When in reality, I'm pretty short-tempered and sweating and get really tired of saying, "VIVI, SMILE NICELY. NOT LIKE THAT."
So our photographer, who is patient and kind, didn't disappoint yet again. She sees through the chaos and brilliantly captures it all. Love her.
The photos of our family were taken by the incredible Sara Richardson. Follow her on Instagram here.
Here are a few.
Lila wanted to wear sparkles. Vivi wanted to wear her red converse.
Lila is also wearing her very favorite sea shell necklace.
Lila's leg is killing me.
LOVE. There were more, but I'll spare you.
They make me so happy.
