"...your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant..."
I have a best friend.
We were first put together by the Bluffton College roommate planning committee (Did this exist? Am I making this up?) and let's just say upon first glance neither one of us thought it was going to work.
Fast forward eighteen years later and I can safely say that I could not imagine my life without her. Clearly Dan P., our Northwest Ohio admissions advisor, knew something we did not.
(Dear friend, I'm struggling to find the right words.)
There has never been a big deal or small deal that I haven't shared with her. All of it - she gets it. She understands the ins and outs of my family and she loves them. She grieved with me and held my hand and was behind me at my Mom's funeral. Her quiet stillness... just knowing she was there...
She's been there, by my side, for everything.
I love, love, love her.
We laugh. We cry. We schedule our phone conversations.
Tamara, I love you.
I love you so much.
I love you for your beautiful and kind soul. I love you for your empathy. I love you for your sense of humor. I am amazed by your strength. I am inspired by your drive to always, always strive for better. I am calmed by you. You are so important to me.
I love you becuase you know me... like really know me and you love me anyway.
This is so much more than a friendship; it's a sisterhood. I'm sorry I was a crappy roommate and even though I said I hated the sunflowers, I really did grow to like them.
I couldn't be happier that you were born. Happy, happy birthday.
