Downton Abbey is my new Mad Men.
I'm a sucker for historical fiction. I remember reading a biography about Anastasia Nikolaevna, the youngest daughter of the Russian czar, Nicholas, when I was about 12.
I was a dork. (You've seen my mullet. You know this is true.)
Then the royal wedding happened and while that was exciting and all -- I LOVED reading and learning more about the British monarchy. I watched more than one special about the queen, how she grew up, etc. (Did you know that Queen Elizabeth is the monarch reigning over 16 states (known as the Commonwealth) and their territories? She's also the head of the 54-member commonweath of nation. This means she's the queen of Jamaica mon, Barbados (I'm sure she's friends with Rihanna (sp? Who cares?)), Canada and South Africa and more. I didn't know this until recently.)
Anywho. Enter Downton Abbey.
I netflixed the first season and then had to buy the second season on apple TV because I DON'T GET PBS IN MEXICO. (So annoying.)
This show is FANTASTIC. Even Craig is sitting beside me and tolerating it.
The story lines have pulled me in. There's the villians, the heros, the clothes, the vocab -- I love it all.
It's like Dallas but set in a castle. I mean who doesn't want to watch an English soap opera?
The third season comes out in January so you have a month to catch up. Do it.
