My vet doesn't like my dog. WHATEVER.

So, our vet isn't a big fan of Ferg. (GASP.)

I KNOW.

I mean, seriously? Who doesn't like Ferg? She's pretty much the sweetest little dog ever. She's a four-year-old Havanese and is one of the finest dogs to have ever walked the earth.

Ferg's intuitive. She's kind and sweet. And she has never even TOUCHED any of the girls' toys. She knows which are hers and which are theirs. She was my baby before I had babies.

So back to the vet: he doesn't like her. He's always snippy to me about her and I have found it annoying, but always thought I was imagining it.

THEN, we adopted Millie in January. (See here.) She's nuts. Barks a TON. But she's fun and lively and Ferg likes her. We all do.

When we took Millie in to be spayed, my vet proceeded to tell me that he favored rescue dogs because they're "not pampered... they're appreciative."

Ohhhhh. Ok, I get it. You have a heart for rescues and aren't a big fan of purebred dogs. Ok, fine.

So yesterday I take The Ferginator and Millie in to get get SHAVED. WHY?

Because they are little brillo pads. They're like VELCRO. They literally pick up all of the grass and palm tree shrapnel in our yard. It's nuts. On any given day I will vacuum our ONE area rug in our living area three times. (I love the instant gratification vacuuming provides.)

So I walk into the vet office that doubles as a grooming shop. I'm holding Ferg and I'm explaining (in broken dog-grooming Español) that I want her hair CHOPPED. Like 1 centimeter long. And shave the hair on her belly because I'm SICK of brushing her like twice a day. I'm not asking for doggie electrolysis - just CUT HER HAIR.

Now, please note that I've asked them to cut Ferg super-short before and they rarely agree to do it. They believe my requests are mere suggestions and end up doing whatever they feel is appropriate given the weather. You think I'm joking? I picked up Ferg this past winter and she was hardly cut at all. "It's too cold for her to have short hair." Ah. Um, ok.

So the girl who cuts the dogs' hair is looking at me like, "I DO NOT WANT TO CUT HER THAT SHORT. BUT, WHATEVER, you crazy American."

So I put Ferg down, then I hold Millie and the vet, who translates sometimes, says, "Ok, so what do you want done with the nice one?"

[gasp]

"The nice one?"

SEE? The VET HATES FERG.

I responded with, "They're both nice. And Millie gets the same haircut."

Please note: Ferg does not bite and is a sweetie pie. Millie is a puppy (we think - not sure of her age) and is slightly neurotic.

Whatever, vet.

WHAT.EVER.

DO NOT INSULT MY DOG. FERG IS NICE.

But hey - get this: they totally took my shaggy dogs and made them look like small, weird-looking lamb-reindeer.

Ferg is winking.

Cute, no?

And those bows on their ears? They GLUED them in.

UGH. This country...

  3. Ferg IS SMILING in that photo, as ALWAYS. There's a human soul living in that dog, I swear.

The vet has to be on drugs to not like F. Lupita.

  7. Baaaaahahahah. OMG i dont know why i am laughing out loud right now. I think it has to do with this statement "...and made them look like small, weird-looking lamb-reindeer." Um, SO FUNNY.

I find it odd that he has a grudge towards pure breeds...He has a few yorkies at home.....Oh well. Ferg is AWESOME.

  9. Cute little Ferg, I also wonder why your vet doesn't like her. Havanese are great and behaved dogs, I don't see the reason why. Maybe because of the shaggy hair style. Well Ferg looks cute in her new cut.

  11. If not volunteer work, you got your GPA, you studied your GMAT and passed, and now it's time to send out those applications. With those applications, though, comes the idea of showing off your skills through the MBA statement of purpose essay portion of your application. See more personal statement veterinary school
