My current faves: skin & makeup products

Olay's Eye Restoration Complex. I really love eye creams. I'm that person who doesn't go to sleep without putting some on (I'm all about proactive skincare.) I'm really happy with this one. (My next favorites are Philosphy's Eye Hope, Olay's Regenerist Eye Serum. I don't like Hope in a tube at all.) Bottom line? I'm trying to minimize crow's feet. I'm 31 and prevention is key. This stuff goes on smoothly and is lovely. And, you only really need half a pump per application. (Available for $37-$42 on amazon or drugstore.com.)

Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash smells AMAZING. It's fresh and lovely. It removes all traces of makeup and it doesn't dry out your skin. Instead, it leaves your face smelling like a spa. I likes that. Available at Sephora. $32.

Vaseline cocoa butter deep conditioning lotion. This stuff, combined with genetics (Thanks, Mom!) has afforded me the luxury of not procuring any stretch marks during two pregnancies. (I LATHER this stuff on. I strongly believe that HEAVY moisturizing is vital.) And? It smells like vacation. Score. $8 on drugstore.com.

Laura Mercier Secret Camoflauge. Oh, this is good concealer. I'm a huge believer/follower of the Bare Minerals makeup line and use it daily. However,  I wanted a new concealer that would hide my dark, I'm-not-getting-much-sleep-under-eye-circles and this stuff works on my uber-dry skin. I recommend it. At Sephora for $28.

CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara. I read about this mascara on Forever in Blue Jeans and I knew I wanted to try it. I'm a mascara girl. I consider it my mission in life to try all brands at all price points. (You know, after I help establish world peace.)

So yeah, my goal is always to find a mascara that is dark, dark, dark, doesn't clump, separates, extends and most imporantly: WASHES OFF easily. Love this stuff!  I find that with a light first-coat and then a light second-coat - it looks fantastic. The brush is very similar to the Bare Minerals Buxom brush, too. Nice. Definitely in my top 5 mascaras. And what a delightful price! Available at drugstore.com for $7.79.

  1. I have to say I was a huge fan of Bare Minerals makeup until I tried Diorskin Nude Natural Glow foundation. It's a mineral based liquid foundation and it's heaven. My sister-in-law just tried it too and is now a giant fan (she has used Bare Min. forever). A huge plus also is that it takes very little when using a foundation brush and one bottle lasts a really, really long time! Just a suggestion in case you want to try something new. I love the entire Dior makeup line except I am still addicted to Lancome mascara (my new fav is hypnose drama).

I am going to try that lotion...I could use a vacation right now, LOL...it's -20 degrees with the wind chill this morning! We leave (with the kids) for St. Thomas in 26 days and it couldn't get here fast enough!

  2. @Lauren Oh my gosh Dior foundations are amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing. I've never seen a brand make your skin more glowy than that.

Kylee, thank you for the mascara tip! I've been looking for one. The last 3 I've tried have been HORRIBLE!

  3. Thanks for the tips!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that cocoa butter lotion too. I used it through both pregnancies and no stretch marks here either. I'm kind of a lotion freak - can't start my day until I've lathered up.
