Welcoming in 2011.

I love office supplies. Hence, it should come as no surprise that I love calendars.

Every year, since I've been old enough to understand how a calendar works, I've been excited about a.) starting a new one in January and b.) about flipping the page to a new month.

Fresh beginnings. New crisp paper. Right.up.my.alley.

This year, there are a few calendars that I don't want.

Here they are.

I see enough of the beach. You, on the other hand, can buy it here.

Views from the Hubble Space thing. Outer space. I'm sorry, but that's boring to me. You, on the other hand, can buy it here.

Oh, this is so gross. I just have never been able to stomach the, "Painter of Light." You, on the other hand, can buy it here.

Well, this one's obvious. Self-explanatory. Would I gift it to someone? A.b.s.o.l.u.t.e.l.y. Would I buy it for me? Absolutely not. You, on the other hand, can buy it here.

Seriously, though? Happy New Year's Eve. I wish you all health, happiness and a ridiculous amount of laughter in 2011.

Why wouldn't you want a tooth-shaped pillow?

Best Tooth Fairy Pillow I've ever seen:

$28.00. Land of Nod. See here.

(I think I'm turning into my mother. That is precisely the quirky tooth pillow my Mom would have provided for me. Someone stop me if I promise to give one or both of my daughters a stone-washed jean jacket if they get a bowl-cut in the 3rd grade.)

[spelling error in title has been corrected. Thanks everyone!]

When it looks bad on a model...

I was browsing gap.com's big 50% off of SALE items page and spotted this gem on sale for $64.99.

Yep.

Here's the description: "A shiny performance jacket makes you stand out from the running pack while keeping you insulated with ultra-soft fleece lining."

A couple of thoughts:

1.) Absolutely. You will stand out if you wear this jacket. However, I fear that you'll also become sort sort of conductor for lightening. Perhaps the fleece will ground you.

2.) This reminds me of those terrible weight-loss outfits that people used to wear in the 70s/80s. Not cool then, not cool now.

3.) I'm confident I wouldn't pay more than $3.00 for this jacket so the current "sale" price of $64.99 appears to me to be highway robbery.

4.) It's only appropriate to wear this jacket when you work here:

I think I'm going to pass on this one.

Conversation with my husband.

The other day C. and I were talking about things you shouldn't say to co-workers, or to anyone, for that matter.

C: "You should never say that you're stomach hurts to anyone. Ever."

Me: "Why not?"

C: "Because the person you're talking to will immediately think, if not say, 'Do you need to go to the bathroom?' and that's uncomfortable for everybody."

Me: [silent.]

C: "You should always just say you have a headache. Even if it's your stomach."

And there you have it.

Valid.

There are so many fantastic things about this photo.

After I received permission from my brother, I decided I had to post this picture of my niece Bella and her brother, Brody. (Bella will be 3 (omg) in January, Brody will be 1 in January.)

 Love it.

MexMo: It's all relative.

The current temperature in the city of my birth, Toledo, Ohio:

I don't think it matters that it's "sunny" in Toledo when it's only 25 degrees and it feels like it's 15.

Riiiiight.

And, this is why we moved.

Here it's 73 degrees and I'm sitting in my home working with my doors and windows open... wearing a sweatshirt and [maternity] jeans.

My Mom is sitting on the couch under a fleece blanket.

Uh-huh.

It's all relative.

Lila Lunes: 18 months

My sweet Lila turned 18 months recently. Growing up before my very eyes.

Stats:

Lila weighs 23.2 lbs.
Lila adores bread.
Lila has become increasingly familiar with time outs... and snuggling after said time outs.
She adores raspberries, the fruit.
Christmas was exciting for her, too. Why? Because she could get dressed up.

There are a TON of pictures this week from this super-pregnant woman who really is just sort of tired. :)

I love this smile.

Food makes me happy!

Her first up-do.

Lila's current favorite book? The Pregnancy Bible. She loves looking at the babies. (We'll soon see if that really is true...)

Is that a disco? Yes it is. It's Ferg and Lila's disco in our kitchen cabinet.

...and... we're out...

...'tis the season for family, food and ignoring the interweb for a couple of days.

Merry Christmas, one and all.

Great question.

Saw this in Real Simple.

For me? It never fails: getting Lila out of her crib each morning. And pop tarts. I haven't had a pop tart in forever.

Conversation with my husband.

The other night we had just gotten into bed and C. mentioned that he was still hungry.

Huge bummer. I hate that. This is precisely why I keep crackers (and Tums) on my nightstand.

So, here's our very romantic in-the-dark convo:

Me: "I have some crackers. Want some?"

Him:  "Men don't eat crackers."

Me: "What do men eat?"

Him: "Bacon."

--

And there you have it.

:)

(I love him. He'd rather starve then eat crackers in bed because men don't eat crackers. They eat bacon.)

Happy, happy birthday!

Today is a noteworthy day.
Why?
Because it's my friend Trophy Life's birthday.
--
Dear friend,
I love you for a variety of reasons: from your excellent fashion sense, to your impeccable and spot-on humor and personality, from your uncanny ability to offer sound advice time after time and most notably: for your adventurous spirit. (It's something both C. and I really admire.)

I cannot wait to see you again, because each time I do, I feel like no time has passed.

**SO** much love to you.

I'm so glad you were born.

Love,
ky

This is what a year and a half old looks like.

How have we celebrated this milestone?
First, her Daddy made her breakfast. (Three scrambled eggs with havarti cheese and a whole banana.Yes. THREE eggs.)

Next, she re-organized her sock bin, read some books, celebrated with a half sippy cup of water/apple juice and did this to the living room.

...And now the half birthday girl is on a walk to the grocery store with her Nana.

The day's lookin' good for Lila. LOOKIN.GOOD.

Meet my new friend.

This is my crock pot. (Or, I believe they're calling them, "slow cookers" nowadays.)

I bought it this past weekend after being on a *search* for one. (They're hard to come by in Cabo. For my friends living here, I found it at the new CCC.)

My early-life experiences with crock pots revolved around this model at right (not my picture, one found on the vast interweb) and usually it involved pot roasts accompanied by overly mushy vegetables, then during the holidays, it became a spiced cider receptacle.

I remember HOW annoying it was to wash the crock pot, too. I mean, the plug was attached. How do you wash out a meat-cooking-device with a plug and not get the plug wet?

Anywho, I'm pumped about my new crock pot and I anticpate that it will change our lives for the better.

Got any good recipes? BRING 'em on. Please note, I'm not a big fan of Campbell's, "Cream of" soup line. (Hello sodium.)

Thanks, ya'll.

Produce Report: 34 weeks

What's that? A mere SIX weeks left? Absolutely. As it turns out, I am due to have a child in 41 days. Will I have her sooner?  Oy!

Q: How is the baby?
A: She's great! We had an appointment last week and she is now in the head-down position, which is a good thing.

She also weighs approximately 5 lbs - which is right on target with what she's supposed to weigh.

Q. How am I feeling physically?
A. Oh boy, I'm slowing down a bit. Ok, a lot. Truth is my stomach is very round. Bending down to pick up things? Not easy. Number of things Lila drops per day? 629. I'm definitely at the getting-tired-more-easily point and am hovering at the sleeping-is-no-longer-comfortable point.

One of my favorite things, though? Baby Girl 2011 gets the hiccups all.of.the.time. (So did Lila.) They always make me smile.

Q. How am I doing emotionally?
A. I'm SO excited. I mean, I am REALLY excited. I cannot WAIT to meet this little girl. Ok, sure... I can wait... but may the record state that I'm really excited. I talked with my doctor a lot about the delivery of Baby Girl 2011 and I feel much more comfortable than I did before.

Q. How is the weight gain at this point?
A. Solid. :) I've gained 28 lbs. According to the books and websites I've read I'm consistently at the "maximum".  HA! At least I'm consistent. What do I get for consistency? Brownies. Hmmm...

Q. Is the baby's room done yet?
A. Nope! But seriously, let's be honest - it's so hard to get things done right now. The holidays, work full-time for both C. and I... Craziness. However, C. is really working on it. I'm pretty excited to decorate it after he's got it in order.

We did some maternity shots last Sunday to commemorate what will more than likely be the birth of our final baby.

(I was loading these maternity photos on to my computer and threw them in a folder I had previously made when I FIRST found out I was pregnant for Baby Girl 2011. This is the first picture that popped up when I opened the folder. Me. 5 weeks pregnant. CRUEL. It's amazing how much a body can change.)

Merry Christmas, ya'll.
