Mythbusters (Two Pretzels-style):
Nailpolish in the fridge: Beneficial or not?

With the help of Oprah.com (I know, I know... heavy sigh), I found this answer...

Question: Will storing my nail polish in the fridge help it last longer?

Answer: According to Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, executive vice president of OPI, storing polishes in the fridge will slow down the process of discoloration which happens as nail polish ages.

Other answer: Having myriad of flammable glass bottles closed up in a big metal box may not be the smartest move combustibility-wise.

Suggestion: Keep your nail polish in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

What am I going to do?: No idea. My house is hot. Back under the bathroom sink the polishes go.

Any thoughts on this?

  1. I didn't know nail polish could go bad. I rarely use it, except on my toes in the summer. I think I've had the same 2 bottles for about 10 years. Is that bad?

  2. I love OPI nail polish. They really have some of the cutest colors and it is just great polish.

I keep mine under the bathroom sink. I don't think we have enough room in our freezer for all my nail polish. Plus, would you have to defrost it if you wanted to use it?! Yes, I just asked that:)

  3. I think (IMHO) with where you live, if you just have a bottle or 2, keep it in the fridge!
