Did you know...

... that these delectable little green mini cabbage veggie balls are actually called, "Brussells sprouts"? (More here.)

I've forever thought they were singular: brussel sprouts.

Who knew?

Not me.

But I mean, come on - two consecutive consonants , (the "s"), are bound to cause some confusion.

P.S. On a semi-related tangent, aren't Brussels griffons cute? See more here.

  1. I've wanted a Brussels Griffon ever since I saw one in "As Good as it Gets". CUTE DOGS!!!!

I can't accept "Brussels Sprouts" immediately into my life.

  2. I adore brussel sprouts. Beck makes this holiday dish that has bacon, almonds and essentially fried brussels. Of course, they are no longer healthy that way, but who's counting on Thanskgiving?

  3. Yum. I love these little dudes. I swear packaging says "Brussel"... no? I'll have to check that out. I know I have some frozen ones at home.

  4. Brussels can keep their sprouts. Ack. My mom used to make me eat these when I was a kid ... I refuse to buy them or cook them. Least favorite vegetable. Ever.

  5. It's weird how some things can show up in your life in clusters. Our librarian recently gave me frozen home grown brussels sprouts because I made an off-handed commented that I had never cooked them before. And then you blog about them. So weird!

  6. TLC - I can't believe you don't like them. I think they're definitely a LOVE/HATE veggie. I ADORE them.

Athena - Seriously, that dog in As Good as it Gets was ridiculous cute. What was his name? It's on the tip of my tongue.

Iris - I'm glad you like them, too. And Beck's holiday dish sounds amazing. Tell me there's butter in it. I'm on board.

Sarah W - Yay! You love them, too!? Awesome. Let me know what your packaging says... and where is your new blog?

Metacognitive - See. You need to have some Brussels sprouts soon.
