MexMo: Um, probably not.

I don't get it.
The pan-sellers (bread-sellers) in Los Cabos have this thing where they're totally OK with leaving their baked goods out in the open air.
It's quite unsettling for me and my aversion to germs.

(Next time our local grocery store has a 12 ft. long cake available for customers to CUT their own piece, put on a plate and BUY - I'll snap a picture for you. It's the grossest.thing.ever. For me.)

Anywho. Here's a "bread bin" at costco.
It's a boat-load of rolls or whatever thrown in a bin sans cover/lid/protective plastic wrap.

God only knows how people get the bread out.

(Cringe)

I'm thinking it's a recreational activity...
Like Mexico's answer to the ball pits at Chuck E Cheese.

Dive in. Get your bread.
And an infection.

  1. Since I've had kids, I've been a little more tolerant of germy things. But you are correct, utterly disgusting.

(I should have NEVER taken microbiology and food science in college!)

  5. uh, gross! i concur with your opinion about baked goods out in the open. when i came to visit you and went to Mega by your house, i was a little put off by the baked goods (including the sugary kind) out in the open with all of the flies swarming around - EWWW.

  6. Wait... what's the difference between this and produce? Apples, peaches, pears, etc... not covered, touched by lots of people in grocery stores. Is it because bread is harder to wash?

    WHERE'S LILA!?

  7. Ew is right. My favorite is when you get down to the bottom of those bins and it becomes obvious they haven't been cleaned out in YEARS. Ew, ew, ew.

    I want more Lila info!!

  8. Chuck E. Disease. Sick.

You should bake your own bread.

If I know Kylee as well as I think I do, I'm guessing she pre-wrote these posts and timestamped them to be sent at certain times to keep us satisfied while she is taking care of her new precious baby. She's thoughtful like that.
