Is it an unspoken competition?

I wonder if some facebook members who have 500+ "friends" get a ribbon and membership into some sort of, "I'm-the-coolest-on-facebook" club.

  1. I look at my friends list # and am shocked ever time I look at it. It's crazy, I have no idea how it got that high, but I do know every single person. Am I best friends with all of them? Hardly. But at some point in my life I did know them, have spoken to them (or blogged with them)...it IS very weird.

  2. This cracks me up! I love Facebook because I have reconnected with old friends, but I've also gotten a lot of requests for people that I don't know. I know their name, I know of them, but not enough to accept their friend request. But maybe that practice makes me a Facebook loser?

  4. I would love to say how bad it is if people have 500+ friends, because there's no way that that person knows all those people; they are just a Facebook Friend Whore. But at the same time, in one year I've accumulated 308 friends with three pending friend requests, so really I can't defend my actions.

  5. Given that everything I do online turns into some kind of contest -- I am happy with my current 839 friends -- for now.

  6. Are you saying you deserve a ribbon because you have over 500 friends?

  7. anon - nope. I don't have more than 500 friends. Nor is it really the goal, you know?
